Academic Program

Curriculum · Methodology · Subjects

The Academy's course of study balances traditional academic rigor with the classical liberal arts and Christian intellectual formation.

Course of Study

The Academy uses established, academically credible curricula selected for their intellectual depth and consistency with our mission. Instruction is delivered through a combination of structured coursework, direct parent instruction, and outside enrichment as appropriate to each subject and grade level.

Methodology

Structured Learning

Days follow a consistent schedule with defined subjects, blocks of study, and clear expectations for completion and quality of work.

Mastery Progression

Students advance in each subject upon demonstrated proficiency, not by seat time alone. Deficiencies are addressed before advancement.

Written & Oral Work

Students write regularly across subjects and are expected to articulate ideas clearly in conversation and formal recitation.

Reading Across Fields

Wide, substantive reading is central. Students read history, literature, Scripture, and biography — both assigned and independent.

Regular Assessment

Formal assessments and cumulative examinations measure progress and identify areas requiring further work before advancement.

Formation Alongside Instruction

Habits of attention, orderly work, respect, and diligence are cultivated as deliberately as any academic subject.

School Calendar

The Academy operates on a traditional academic calendar spanning August through May, with holiday breaks aligned to family and religious observances. A minimum of 180 instructional days is completed each academic year in accordance with South Carolina statutory requirements.
